Knock Knock. Who's there? Banana.

Today I took my son to his Pediatric Pulmonary Dr for a check up...to make it short & simple, my son is high risk for asthma---but doesn't have it. he's been hospitalized once for respiratory distress and put on meds but has been off everything for a very long time. He had no asthma attacks ever, but again- they say he is high risk, basically thanks to my allergy history. Like Moms don't always put blame on themselves for everything anyways- let's add some more! Anyways, this post is not supposed to be about that...i had to share what my son insisted on doing the whole time in the waiting room, and regular patient room.

He peeled a banana in the car on the way to the office and would not eat it, nor throw it out. He HAD to hold it for a good 45 mins. His reasoning you ask? "I have to throw it out in the garbage at home Mommy". OHHHHHHHH ok.
"Gavin are you gonna eat that banana?"
"no."
"Can you put it down so you can go pee?"
"no. I have to hold it until we get home."
"why don't you just eat it and then your tummy can hold it?" (yeah, i said that)
"no!" the stresses of being a 3yrd old I TELL YA!
Finally when we got into the patient room he actually started to take small bites but again would not put it down or finish eating it or throw it out.
The Dr. did the check up while he held onto that thing.
on the way out i insisted he had to wash his banana-covered hands before we left. He would STILL not throw out the inch long piece that was left...so I reasoned with him. He agreed it was ok to put the last bite into a paper towel, wash his hands...and carry the banana in the paper towel to the car and hold onto it while we went to the next destination. kids.
